I'm almost afraid to say it, but I've stolen a pattern! About a week ago I was blog surfing and I found the celtic cross in this post. There are pictures of how the cross is made up, and I thought I'd try to make it for myself. I didn't count the stitches or anything, I just tried. What I made was this:
Not too bad for being made without a pattern, but I think I could have dropped a stitch or two on the chains in the middle... The cross perhaps is a little bulky for a bookmark, but made with a thinner thread (I used Gjestal Maxi, approx. size 10) this would make a lovely pendant! Anyway, I don't want to violate any copyrights, so I checked out the book where the pattern is from (Celtic Tatting Knots & Patterns, by Rozella Linden), and it's now in my shopping cart :)
this cross is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I don't think I have the ability to copy a pattern from a picture. I do have the book, and I think you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Diane, I don't think I could copy from a picture, and I think you will love the book.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the cross!
Again a great job. And isn't this what all those blogs are for? To inspire others to make it with your own thread and give it your own twist? Your result is great. You are apparently one of those gifted persons that can make with their hands what their eyes see!! Ingrid
ReplyDeletewow pretty
ReplyDeleteLOL good thing you gave credit..Some of the designers are tigers about THEIR work… I'm just saying; hope you are 'safe' LOL
ReplyDeleteI never figured out Ruth Perry's/aka Rozella Linden's celtic knot myself and I tried it with a shoe lace ~ it was the biggest thing I could find. Dh gave it a go and said, "This is nuts!"
You have a good eye and that counts for a lot. I do my celtic patterns from Rosemarie Peel and Jane Eborall's designs; just easier and I'm not long on patience. Not a virtue I possess.
Cool beans. You could prob. use the German book I have; as it only has photos and no diagrams…and is in German (but you could prob. figure out German….Ich ben Deutch to me! LOL
xx Bev
Your cross is amazing! :)
